The Rhodes Ahead

With Thanksgiving upon us, I can’t help but think of the many things that we have to be thankful for at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School…

  • The students who bring us joy each day and work hard to learn new things.

  • The staff and teachers who said yes to God’s call to help prepare minds for the future and souls for eternity.

  • The volunteers who help with lunch, copies or hosting events.

  • The families who partner with us on the mission of getting kids to heaven.

  • The parish who generously supports the school in time, talent and treasure.

  • Fr. Zarse, Dcn, Nicholas, and Fr. Dan for celebrating Sacraments with us.

  • God – who makes good of all things and cares for each of us.

We look forward to celebrating near and dear day with friends and families starting with Mass on Tuesday at 8:15. Students will meet in the classrooms and go to the lettered section the family has decided on to meet their guests to sit together at Mass. After they  have a donut they will visit classrooms. Teachers have activities planned and it often doesn’t work bring other students to other classrooms – so students should wait in their own homerooms.  Students can be signed out in their homeroom to leave with their guests.

Have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.

This Week's Virtue - Prayerfulness

St. Joseph Superfan, 5th Grade Teacher, Mr. Craig Whalen, seemed like a good candidate for this week's edition of, "How does your teacher show the virtue of the week?" The question posed to his students while he stepped out of the room: How does Mr. Whalen model the virtue of prayerfulness?

Cohen- He prays before every class. He gives us ways to meditate before the Blessed Sacrament. He says to “Rest before God.”
Sean- He tells us about his prayer life to help us in our own.
Lorelei- He doesn’t judge you for who you are or how holy you are.
Sadie- He helps us come closer to God.
Anna- He shares stories about how he has seen God in his life.
Marie- He tries to help us find God in the little things.

Makes us want to say some prayers thanking God for Mr. Whalen!

Mr. Whalen

Next Week's Virtue - Respect

Next week, we will be practicing the virtue of respect. Respect is speaking and acting according to our own and other's rights, status, and circumstances. This looks like saying only kind and true things about our siblings and classmates. Respect looks like having appropriate reverence in Church. This includes genuflecting towards the tabernacle and making the sign of the Cross slowly, while thinking about what we're doing.

Pastor's Heart

Friends,

In case you missed my email to the parish, I ask that you take the next five minutes to watch this video.

If we play defense now, we will be able to focus on offense and what God is calling us to do here at Sacred Heart.

From my heart to yours,

Fr. Zarse
