The Rhodes Ahead

Fr. Zarse said we are rounding the last corner of Lent heading into Holy Week and the Octave of Easter. What a blessing.  Sometimes as we look forward to being finished with our Lenten commitment we might miss the lesson. Mr. Chapman found a note left behind that had been passed between two students that said, “You know that’s weird we are talking about this because I was praying last night and God told me to sacrifice what I like for others.”  The response was, “That’s cool.”

It's wonderful to see the lessons we as parents and teachers work to instill in our children and students come to fruition when we're not looking.

As you celebrate these most holy days of our faith, remember to find the lesson in what you have been doing this Lent.

Our Next Virtue: Docility

Next week we will be working on the virtue of docility. Docility is the willingness to be taught. Oftentimes when we think of docility, we think of listening to our parents and teachers, but docility also includes listening to our friends and learning from their ideas and opinions. When my friend is sharing his or her idea with me, do I actually listen and think about their idea or opinion?

Docility looks like silently taking a correction when a teacher or parent points something out to you that you need to grow in. It sounds like responding politely even when you want to make a comeback. If we are docile, we say, "Yes, thank you for letting me know. I will work on that."

Saints are people who listen to God and follow His plan for them. Because they are docile, God can do amazing things in their lives!
