The Rhodes Ahead

Hello! It's Mr. Chapman again as Mrs. Rhodes is out of town.

January has been an exciting month in our Liturgy.  In it, we hear Mark’s Gospel and witness the beginning of the public life of Jesus Christ.

Mark’s account of the life of Jesus Christ while the shortest, often tells of Jesus’ ministry in more detail than Mathew or Luke.  Each incident follows directly upon one another.

I encourage you to take some time and read Mark’s Gospel.  Come to know the life of Jesus, the struggles he faced not just at the end of his life, but throughout.

Catholic Schools Week will start in 10 days with Mass on Sunday, Jan. 29th.

We will be sending further information with regards to our daily focus and dress on MONDAY. Don't forget to check the flyer below for more information on our annual Cardinal Carnival! Raffle ticket and prize information can be found there. All Carnival proceeds go toward our All School Serve Day in March to benefit Catholic Charities.

Have a great weekend. Don't freeze, and GO CHIEFS!

Pax Vobiscum!

Mr. Chapman

Next Week's Virtue: Humility

Next week we will be practicing the virtue of Humility. Humility is sometimes called the "queen of virtues," because you need humility in order to cultivate other virtues. It is the awareness that all of one's gifts come from God. Humble people also appreciate the gifts of others. When we practice humility in our actions, we try to keep from drawing attention to ourselves.

Do I always want to be the center of attention? Do I try to get compliments from others on purpose? Do I interrupt when others people are talking because I want to be heard instead?

Humility looks like being happy for others, especially when they got something you wanted or did better than you on a competition.

Junior High Youth Rally

It's time to sign up to attend this year's Junior High Youth Rally! It is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade. The rally will be taking place on Sunday, February 25th at Prairie Star Ranch in Williamsburg, Kansas. The day includes Mass with Archbishop Naumann, worship music, dynamic speakers, games, lunch and everyone's favorite part: Mike Debus the performance painter. It is an all-day retreat and a great opportunity for our middle school students to grow in their faith and be excited about it.

Here is an example of Mike Debus' work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKJZbN4G1Hg

We will carpool from Sacred Heart. We will meet at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot and will return at 5:00 p.m. that evening. The cost of the rally is $43.00 which includes lunch. You can reserve your middle schooler's spot here:
