The Rhodes Ahead

Happy Lent Everyone.  On Ash Wednesday, Fr. Zarse told the students that after 40 days we will either be better or bitter.  Several of the teachers have shared what they are doing as homeroom for Lent – picking up rocks to return to flower beds, moments of silence, learning new prayers, and even planning a surprise for another homeroom. Such great ways to fast, pray and give alms.

As a school, each week we are focusing on one of the foundation stones that Father Zarse has been mentioning: Adoration, The Rosary, Reconciliation, Fasting and Scripture. These 5 things will help us be better as we celebrate our Risen Lord 40 days from now.

We are excited to extend a warm invitation to you and your families to join us for three special evenings of spiritual enrichment and community building during our Parish Mission on these 5 topics. Let us come together as a parish family to strengthen our faith, deepen our love, and live out our call to service by learning more about the foundation stones of Adoration, The Rosary, Reconciliation, Fasting and Scripture. As an integral part of our school community, we believe these evenings will not only deepen your personal faith journey but also strengthen the bonds within our broader parish family.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in the life of our parish community. We look forward to sharing these enriching evenings with you and the impact they will have on the community.

Next Week's Virtue: Orderliness

Next week we begin to work on the virtue of orderliness. Orderliness means keeping oneself clean and neat, and one's belongings in good order. Orderliness looks like having neat and tidy work spaces. How does my desk or locker look? Do I throw papers and pencils without thinking, or do I use the folders and binders I have to keep everything organized?

St. Martin de Porres, a Dominican lay brother, serves and example for the virtue of Orderliness. He practiced orderliness by doing little chores all over his monastery to keep it clean and organized. How can we practice at home? Orderliness looks like making my bed, or setting the table. It also looks like taking care of my own needs, like brushing my teeth and combing my hair. When I take care of my needs I give glory to God by caring for His Temple.
