The Rhodes Ahead

During a tour that I was giving this week, the mother said, “I am going to ask you something because I think you will be honest but I know you might not answer, but what makes SHOJ different?” It is really hard to describe the answer to this question because it involves our faith, our church, our families, our teachers and so much more.

The third full week of school in a row, following the time change, can be exhausting. But, my heart is full.

This has been a very busy and full week at school. On Tuesday we had Adoration and an assembly of St. James Chamber singers. Wednesday we honored veterans at our all school Mass. Thursday night we had our Thankful Thursday event. So much joy and goodness all from people working together.

Thank you for making SHOJ a special place for so many reasons.

Next Week's Virtue - Prayerfulness

Next week we will be working on the virtue of prayerfulness. Prayerfulness means being still, listening, and being willing to talk to God as a friend. Prayerfulness looks like bowing your head and remaining silent during prayers that you don't know. It is easy to think that we are practicing this virtue if we are not talking or moving around, but prayerfulness has to do with our heart's attitude. We need to think about how we practice it in our hearts as well.

Domestic Church Advent Workshop

Join us for an Advent workshop on Thursday, November 30 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. that reminds us to call on the Holy Family for intercessory prayer while learning how to live Advent in our Domestic Church. We will share ideas on how to celebrate Advent within your home and complete a craft for this Advent season! Childcare provided (infant to 4th grade). Click here to register.
